The Process
Preparing for Your Egg Donation Journey: Medical Recommendations
Before you embark on the transformative path to parenthood through egg donation, it's crucial to undergo a thorough medical evaluation to ensure the best possible outcome.
Here’s what we recommend:
- Ultrasound Scan of the Uterus: Timing is key. For those in their reproductive years, this scan is ideally performed between the 9th and 12th days of your menstrual cycle, allowing us to observe the uterine lining at an optimal time. For individuals in menopause, the timing is more flexible, as hormonal fluctuations are no longer a concern.
- Ultrasound Scan of Ovaries: Performed during the early phase of your menstrual cycle (2nd to 3rd day), this scan gives insight into ovarian health and reserve. This step is not necessary if you have reached menopause.
- Immunological Tests: These include assessments for CD138 and NK-activity, as well as KIR antibodies. The results help us understand your immune system's readiness for pregnancy and to rule out potential barriers.
- ERA Test or Eliza: An Endometrial Receptivity Analysis (ERA) or similar tests can determine the best time for embryo implantation, increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy.
- Microbiome of the Uterine Cavity: Checking for chronic endometritis is vital. This can reveal the presence of any inflammation that might hinder implantation.
- Anti-phospholipid Antibodies: These tests are important to rule out any clotting disorders that could affect a pregnancy.
- Hysteroscopy: This procedure allows a direct look into the uterus, identifying any potential issues such as polyps or fibroids that could interfere with embryo implantation.
We understand that this process involves much more than just medical procedures—it's a journey of hope and commitment. At Traveling Donors, we're here to support you with compassion and expertise, every step of the way. If you have questions or need guidance, our team is always ready to assist you.
Remember, these recommendations are general and may vary based on individual circumstances and health status. It's always best to consult with your fertility specialist for personalized advice and to discuss any concerns you may have.

Initial Required Tests for Sperm Donors
To ensure the highest chances of success, we require sperm donors to complete the following initial tests:
- Sperm Analysis: This test should be current, not older than 6 months. It evaluates the health and viability of sperm.
- Sperm DNA Fragmentation Test: Assesses the integrity of sperm DNA which is crucial for healthy embryo development.
- Genetic Carrier Screening Panel: Tests for a comprehensive panel of at least 300-400 genetic carrier diseases. We can facilitate this test through our esteemed genetic lab partners, Dante Labs. They provide door-to-door logistics, delivering the test kit to your home and arranging for courier collection for international shipping.
These steps are integral to our careful planning and support, ensuring that every aspect of the donor journey aligns with our dedication to creating happy, healthy families.
